Generations of Košice locals knew it as a favourite place to meet, talk and sit over a beer. Today the legend returns. In the historic premises on Hlavná Street, Veverička has come back to life – the iconic Košice beer pub whose earliest known mention dates back to 1978.
A symbolic moment of its rebirth was putting the original historic squirrels from 1978 back up, returned to their place after decades. The new Veverička Pub follows on from the tradition of the original pub, combining it with modern gastronomy and Czech beer culture.

quality gastronomy with an emphasis on honest ingredients,
modern beer culture and care for draught beer.
Guests can taste five kinds of draught Budvar Budweiser, as well as the world-famous Guinness and Hoegaarden. The drinks list also includes Kofola, homemade fruit lemonades and mixed cocktails. The food menu is made up of pub specialities, dishes from the grill and lighter, more modern dishes. It also features recipes inspired by the pub’s history, such as Veverička fried cheese, and new dishes created especially for the Veverička brand – burgers, steaks, pub pizza and roast pork knuckle.
During the renovation, the emphasis was on preserving the pub’s atmosphere. The new interior combines the original masonry vaults, brick, wood, warm colours and historic features that recall the original Veverička of the late 1970s.

Veverička Pub has been open to the public since June 2026.
